About Us

Individuals with disabilities are part of every demographic classification, although they are often clustered at the outer margins of any particular category: the poorest of those in economic distress, the most unschooled of the inadequately educated, and the most commonly unemployed. Disabling conditions can add one more barrieer to overcome for those already members of any other minority. Individuals with disabilities are over twice as likely to have not graduated from high school, adding yet another obstacle in achieving and /or understanding how to go about achieving their health care goals/needs.

Individuals with disabilities are three times more likely to lack adequate transportaion and when it comes to health care, Americans with disabilities are over three times less likely to have received needed care on at least one occasion in the past year.  They are more than twice as likely to postpone or put off needed health care because they cannot afford it.  Individuals with disabilities are less likely to receive services at least once per month unlike their non-disabled counterpart. 

For generations, Americans have depended on nursing homes to care for them as their health begins to decline. As the population rapidly changes, and the availability of agencies such as ours becomes readily accessible, more care is shifting from institutions into home and senior residences.  During the course of this change more responsibility is shared by families.
